fusible link keeps blowing

fusible link keeps blowing

1978 ford f150 351 mod. just replaced starter solenoid and battery but the fusilbe link that runs off the solenoid keeps blowing wheni try to reconnect the battery, what could this be caused by. thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.
The last time I saw this, the battery was actually charged backwards. Check the battery with a meter.

Soemthing is shorting out. Check the flow of power and make sure you don't have the battery in backwards.

fusible links

i have run into the same concern, turned out to be the alternator.
don't know if this helps, wouldn't hurt to have the alt. checked and ruled out.

When mine went it turned out to be the fan/blower switch in the dash that was shorting out. I replaced the fusible link with a breaker.

I had a dead short in the ignition switch in the off position.
