Smile 2 headed turtle?

I thought you might have a chuckle at this one.

My recently acquired 56 F100 has a yblock (ECZ6015C) that is red in color. Both dipsticks were included although I didn't pay extra for this feature.

I'm thinking the forward dipstick may indicate a car motor... but what events do you think would occur resulting in both dipsticks remaining with the engine?

He's runnin' great so I'll probably just seek out a plug for one of these extra "turtle heads".

:-)))

Most cars had the oil pan sump in the front while trucks are in the rear. The sump is the lower part of the oil pan where the drain plug is located.

Thanks for the insight. I guess someone replaced the short block at some point and it probably had the forward dipstick (car). At that point, they must've added the mid-engine dipstick so that it would function with their original pan and never bothered to plug the forward hole.

Alot can happen to a vehicle over a 50 year period.

Someday, when I yank this engine and pull it apart, I'll find out what I really Have. At this point, we're looking at a 312 from a '57 car backed up with a '57 Fordomatic.

Sorta stock, right? :-///

I finally mustered the nerve to pull the forward dipstick and tube from the block. I was thinking that it was threaded but no...after twisting the tube off and sweating bullets for awhile, the WD40 kicked in and the rest of the bugger slid out...no threads.

Is this right? and is there a plug for this application?

thanks, Doug

Go to your local parts store and buy a 1/2" cup type expansion plug and drive it in the hole from the outside of the timing cover. That's what Ford used.
