fuelpump eccentric

Hi. Was wondering if anyone knows if changing camshafts would cause the factory fuelpump eccentric in a 351W to fail (break the tab off of it). I'm quite sure I torqued it according to the Ford shop manual. After it died in the driveway yesterday morning, I eventually ruled out everything else and had to take the engine apart. Thank goodness the tab was still sitting in the hole when I unbolted the fuelpump eccentric. I'm thinking to go electric if it happens again. When I called the auto parts stores for this part, I was told it was a Stealership part. The boneyard engine in the garage again was a lifesaver.
Thanks for advise, help

I'm with Daerhldgs2 on that first time i've heard of that happening. The only thing i can think of is overtorqued or just worn /weak part.

Thanks for the input. Like I said above, I'm sure that I torqued it correctly. Was feeling pretty good when I realized that I didn't need to open the book until it was time for torque specifications.
Anyway, the one from the junkyard engine seems to be doing well. I must have dinged the old one somehow.
