Defective rotor?
I have a 2004 X, diesel, around 10k miles. I have had this nagging vibration that comes up through the floorboard, nothing in the steering wheel. It is only noticeable above 65 and it gets really annoying at 70 – 75. There is a difference in the severity of the vibration when running the stock rims and tires vs my aftermarket rims (17 x 9 – bfg 285’s). After close inspection of the driveline components I discovered that on the drivers side rear rotor there is flat spot on the inner vent portion. The rotor face is perfectly round. It’s not a huge amount, but it easily could be a few ounces. The passenger side rotor does not have this anomaly. Could a few ounces of metal missing on the rotor cause a vibration problem? Has anyone else noticed this?
