I'll be getting my new Edelbrock intake manifold set next week for my 95 351 Bronco and I was interested in finding out from others that put one on, how hard was it, and problems, ect. I'm using a Fel-pro printed seal type intake gasket set. On my stock intake I have a BBK 56mm TB, so I also got a new gasket for that, and I can't think of anything I'll need. Any feedback from those that did this install would be appreciated.
Might get any egr gaskets if you have too take the valve off, that is just a thought off the top of my head cause I have never taken one off a EFI ford.
(In addition to BRK's comments) New "O" ring seals for the injectors! Once the old ones are pulled, they are often the source of leaks if they are reused. Take care when installing the new ones too, the slightest nick or deformation has the potential to cause a leak. Teflon tape for re-installing temperature and ACT sensors. Thermostat and water neck gasket. Probably something else that I'm missing but its what I can think of at the moment.
does the 351 manny require the long torq bit to remove or is that only on the 302 ? Im about to replace my manifold as well and want everything in line beforehand.
As I recall the Torx is required on both the 302 and 351 upper intake plenums. One lousy bolt buried down between the front and rear set of runners in the upper plenum and Ford decides to make it different. Engineers, gotta love 'em. Good point. I knew I had forgotten a few things.
Geezer i installed mine in a long day and if u follow all your instructions you wont have any problems . I marked all my hoses and distributor etc as the instructions call for, used fel pro gaskets and the edelbrock#8584 bolts (good quality).Remember in cleaning the surface use card board and stuff small towels in your ports as instructed. Its good to read over your instructions and take your time .GREYSTREAK IS right; o rings and i went ahead and bought all new sensors and a thermostat, a fuel regulator all from ford .If i had to do it over again (make it easier)( if i had help) i would of removed my hood. Also advice from a few mechanics let it sit up over night after the install- i did 24 hours. I know this part is expensive and i feel u will be excited by the results and $$ spent . TR
