Leak...help please

25 miles ago I had the readend serviced. I noticed a slight leak when I got in home. Today, after about 100 miles, it is leaking as bad or worse. They put some stuff all over the read end that looks like undercoating and in one spot near the center, dabbed some shiny black goop that hardened like plastic. It is leaking from that spot. Just so I appear to know what I talking about when I go back, any ideas on why they globbed that stuff on there. Were they trying a quick fix for something else? I spent almost a $1,000 at this place on seal kits for tranny, trans case, service differentials, etc. I was not expecting any more leaks anywhere. Need some opinions. Thanks.

My opinion is that you should charge back there and get it resealed. No repair job should be followed by a leak.

They are probably going to say. "Oh, it's just a little leak". I'm going to ask them if that is like being a little pregnant.

Went way back and searched the archives (should have done that to start with, let that me a lesson to me). Anyway, found an interesting comment. Seems someone else has same problem leaking from what appears to be a nipple sticking out of the center of the rearend. Almost looks like it should have a tube on it. Is there a pressure release vent there, that should be attached to a metal or rubber hose?
