Fixing the Cupholer

Last night a friend of mine hit the cup holder on the dash with his knee and broke it. The whole unit itself is in tact from what I can see, but it won't stay in the cubby it's supposed to be in. It locks when you push it all the way in but when I pull it out the whole thing comes out like it doesn't have anything stopping it. I need help because I used this thing all the time, so if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this help me out. Plus I dont really want to go to the Ford dealership and have them charge me $100 just to fix somehthing like this. So any suggestions would help - thanks

Drew

if i am not mistaken you have to remove the bezel that goes around the radio and there are tabs that are held on with screws behind there. when he hit it it might have broken on of the tabs in which case you will have to replace the whole thing. there may be an easier way but i had to take the holders out when i changed my heater core and that was how i took it out.

If you can get to the stop tabs, try repairing them with "Loctite Super Glue Gel and baking soda.
Here's the trick, put the gel on one part and baking soda on the other. Line the parts up and push together. Now sprinkle some more baking soda on the parts. It will set up in about thirty seconds. You now have a repair that looks like marble and just as hard.
I fix many things too numerous to mention.

Baking soda and loctite, that sounds crazy but very cool!

I looked a little more at it just a little while ago and I noticed that the two tabs in the back which I guess hold it in there are broken off, so I might see what I can do to find the parts that broke off and glue them back together with some locktite and baking soda. Also, I never knew there was a light to the cupholder until it came out because my my light has been burned out the whole time I've owned this truck, so does anyone know how to get the bulb out and where I can find a new one? The bulb is stuck in there pretty good.

Thanks, Drew
