clifford heated intake

I purchased a used heated cliffird intake for my 300, when I took the brass plugs out to put in barbed water hose fittings, there was raw gas in the compartment. There is no visible cracks, can I do a pressure test? Do you think that if there is a small leak it could be fixed with gas tank sealer?

those intakes are made of aluminum and if possible the best fix is to have it welded with aluminum. to pressure test you could put the hose ends on then put a short peice of hose on each end and plug one hose with a bolt and clamp them apply air to the other end.

I thought I would put a pressure gauge on one side and an air chuck on the other, then put in a small amount of air (around 5 psi) to see how fast it bled off. Then at the same time spray the outside with soapy water to detect any leaks.

either way you'll find the leak fast if it has one, but i think id use around 15 psi, most cooling systems hold that much, also it may only leak when heated up enough to expand a crack
