Please help! it just quit
I was on my way to the Tx rodeo to here Lynard Skynard. I was listening to Free bird. I turned it up to volume 26, that is the level I always listen to. All of the sudden the sound quit (like the station went off air) so I change the channel and still no sound. When I got home and looked closer, I could barely here music through one rear speaker. It crackles too. I checked the system and found out it has two power boosters, one a 60 watt and one a 40 watt. both of them have power with a red LED light. and when you turn on the system, you can here them power up like they are working properly. What can this be. The stereo is a Pioneer, the face plate comes off. It is lit up it changes channels the CD works but I can just barely here it out of one rear speaker with crackle. look for crossed wires somewhere, if a positive and negative cross most sytems will cut out to prevent damage........one way to check if the amps are bad is to unhook them and hook the speaker wires up direct, it wont be as loud but should put out enough to hear if the head unit is still good or not......check them one at a time so you can tell if its one of them.....
