Quick Question

I have a 93 4x4 4cyl that has almost 250K with a 5 speed manual tranny. I am thinking about changing out the engine, but kinda want to get away from the 4cyl. Does anyone know if I can switch to a V6 without changing out the tranny? I haven't bought anything yet, I just wanted to see if it could be done. Also, if that will interchange what else if anything would i need to change?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

The t-case works with all Ranger engines of that "vintage", but you WILL NEED the tranny.

Grab ANY 93 4.0L truck (You aren't wasting time to go only ONE size up...to a 3.slow) engine, tranny, wiring harness, probably radiator--my 2.3L cools so well, it may cool a 4.0 if the hoses run to the radiator easy enough to hook up--and keep that donor if by chance some of the accessories/emmissions stuff needs to go somewhere else and can't be tweaked to fit like an A/C unit, for example.

The axles can stay, since you likely have 4.10s, or at least 3.73s. Old 7.5s in the 80s took on v8 power, so unless you try to pull an Army "duece-and-a-half", they'll be fine.

Hmmm, a rare 4x4 2.3L truck....If I didn't take possession of an 80 MGB convertible today (probably will get a 2.3L and T5 when done), I would have tried to buy one of those at the end of the year.
