Every friggin time I need 4wd on demand it never works, I tired of getting stuck. I'm on my third vaccum actuator and apparently thats not the problem. Got a little stuck yesterday trying to pull the travel trailer out of the rear yard while the ground is still froze up here, went to put it in 4wd and it didn't work. Dug myself out and went for a ride with the dash switch turned to 4wd on dry pavement. After about 2 miles the 4wd kicked in. Came back home and pulled the trailer out. Tried the 4wd again this morning and again it would not engage on demand. Drove it again on dry pavement with the 4wd switched on, after a few miles it kicked in. Turned it off and got to work. I switched it back to 4wd to see if it would engage while backing into my parking space, I heard a very loud clunk while the front wheels were turned all the way and the front axle bound up. It engaged and I could feel the front axle binding up while backing. Could someone explain how that POS front axle operates, It seems that some sort of front differential is not working properly and it it stays in some kind of neutral position then kicks in with a loud bang. Any thoughts out there that might help, I'm starting to think Nissan,Toyota, Honda, or God forbid Chevy.

It's fixed, mechanic said rod that actuates the fork in the front differential was binding up. Replaced that and fork assembly while it was opened up.
