I have the stock plastic grill on my '88 Bronco, that is silver and grey, but I also have a spare laying around from my '87 F-250 that looks the exact same. My question is there something I can buy to paint the grill? I would love to give it that really cool black look, but I didn't know if spray painting it would work. I'm sure you've seen the grilles, they are that glossy black color. Anyways, is it possible to make it look nice, or will it look like a hack job, anyone done this before? Here's a link to what I want it to look like.
Thanks for the tip, I figured I'd lay a primer coat first, but what is a self-etching primer? Online it's $60 for the exact grille I already have a spare of, and I figure why not just give it a shot and see what I can do, whats the worst that can happen, I ruin a grille that was gonna get tossed anyways?

Get a can of clear coat if you want it to be shiney. Me and my friend painted his 89 escort with primer, spray paint, and clear coat from a spray can and it does not look that bad.
I'm glad to see this thread again, I just painted another grille and used Krylon Fusion. This one turned out much better than the one I did using Duplicolor. The paint laid down better, adheres better, and has not chipped - despite the heavily traveled, horrible, bug infested, and filthy rural highway I drive to work each day. I've even used the pressure washer at the DIY car wash on it! The only prep I did was wash it well (Mr. Clean), and rub it down with paint thinner (no priming, or sanding at all). Time will tell, but I think this will be the product to use for this type of thing.
