I justed replaced my old worn out shocks with Skyjacker Nitro's and I was wondering what does the coil spring do? I mean, I figure is absorbs some of the pressure as well as the shocks, but what specific purpose does it serve? I knew the shocks wouldn't fix everything, but I want my bronco to be a very smooth ride, so what do I need to do to make it that way. It is stock height and has 6 brand new Skyjackers, but what can be done, to make it ride even softer?
If I'm not mistaken doesn't running more than one shock on each tire in the front make it a rougher ride? I'm assuming you are running dual shocks in the front.
Yeah, I have quadratec in the front, and singles in the rear. I thought having quads, would help absorb more of the bumps, but would a new Coil spring, improve it as well? Or adding or replacing a steering stabilizer?
The coil springs support the entire weight of your truck. All the shocks do is dampen the up/down movement. If you use more shocks than is necessary OR if the shocks are too stiff then they'll transmit the bumps before they can compress to absorb it.
No it's not as pointed out the coils take the weight of the front end your shocks dampen the ride your not using more shocks than what you already have and since you bought skyjacker nitro's you shouldn't have a problem. The only way to do away from totally feeling anything is to go with different set up like the desert racer's use and you will still feel something just not as much. No matter what you do you'll still feel something and truthfully that is a good thing.
