2wd steering??
I have an f-250('70)...Anyhow..There seems to be a spot where you need to use more effort to make it come off-center while driving down the road...I'm thinking the steering"Gear box"....OK.....Now,Junk yard prices...25..50..75???...whats reasonable...????

Box too tight (sounded good)
The steering box play becomes less when straight ahead. Your too tight on the adjustment which can cause undue wear and damage to the box. Disconnect the drag link at the pitman arm to get a better feel of the box, use your hand on the rag joint not the big steering wheel, adjust the box so you just detect tightness in the straight ahead position. Are the steering column bearings turning free and greased? What condition is the rag joint?
With age and oil they become mush. Manual or power steering? Box and pump internal condition? If power steering when was the fluid changed last?
