I have a 79 f 150 4x4 with a 400 and i am going to need to pull the dampner off of it. Does anyone have the 46 pc bolt puller set that harbor freight sells? The company is pittsburgh i believe. I will rarely need to use it any it is only 9.99. I believe it will cover a wide range of things that i could use it for or is it just me?
I bought one for pulling a steering wheel once. Took it to the shop another time when the shops "disappeared" (have a mechanic that keeps taking things home to work on projects, and doesn't return them right away). Not as heavy on the main body as the shops (OTC, I believe) and no matter what brand, eventually the bolts will need to be replaced, but for the occasional use I give it a thumbs up.
Two of the tool trucks tried to sell us one of those fuel pumps and they are the same exact model that harbor freight has for 4.99 all the time. Both product of China. These One use type tools, I will buy the cheaper one so I can spend my money on a better daily use tool.
I've got one from HF. Not sure if it's the same model, but I've done dampeners and steering wheels with it. I agree with Cheapranger, the only thing that'll wear out is the bolts. I don't know how many tools I have laying around that I bought years ago and now they sell at HF for less than half the price. Not tools something like mine, but cheaper - the exact same tool.
I mean, take the Craftsman HVLP siphon paint cup gun, ($120), and the one from HF, ($50 on sale). Except for the finish, they are the same, (I broke them down right in the store to check the internals.)
I have the harbor freight 46 pc puller as well and have used it many, many times. even tortured it with my impact and its still working fine. for 9.99 i picked up twojust in case but i still haven't opened the other one. i also have their puller for power steering pump pullies and such.. works good
