I am curious to some opinions about the ESOF system. I know not everyone is a fan, but it is nice to just flip a switch on snowy roads. BUT, my front hubs are not engaging, and I would rather have reliability. I have seen some going with Warn hubs. Does the dash switch control the transfer case still?
I would guess there would be a link somewhere, I would appreciate it greatly!
Yes the dash switch still controls the transfer case, but now you have to get out and lock in the hubs, are you sure you have a hub problem and not a vacum problem?
No, I just got done changing glowplugs and injector orings, so I havent had a chance yet to check that out. I can hear the transfer case motor running, and the idiot light comes on, but the front wheels wont turn unless I lock 'em in manually. Any thoughts before I go under?
If your 'automatic' hubs still work manually, then there's no advantage going to the Warn hubs, unless they sell an automatic/vacume controled hub as a replacement. You could still get out and lock your current malfuntioning hubs manually.
I have the ESOF. I'd rather have a lever. It would shift in/out faster. And be more reliable. (not that I've had problem with mine. None)
I would check the vacume lines/pump before I replaced the hubs.
yeah, I am not going to rush out and replace them yet, just started wondering. I havent had anyone yet tell me why they replace the Ford ones with Warns.
