I need to make a 98 4.6 xlt with and an r70w transmission and 3:55 trak loc rear a little quicker.My first thought is to put in 4:10s but the 98 speedo is geared not computer controlled.Then theres the shift points are they a big deal to change and is it totally necessary.The job with parts would probably cost $1100 for a 2wd here in canada.
What about the FTVB how safe is it for the tranny and since theres three versions which is best.I really don't want to get into programmers or chips.the exaust appears to be well engineered and already stainless so thats not a priority.I've done the K&N filter and and opened up the intake but it really needs gears and or tighter shifts.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
