RPM performer intake, with edlebrock 750
ignition is petronix unit
my quetions are
1. right now I,m running a 3.25 rear gear, my buddy has a 3.50 posi unit for $200, will this make that much difference on take off, or should i go with a 4.11 or 373, I would like a little more take off power.
2. what would the Hp estimate be for this motor, if you need more info let me know, and thanks for everything that i have learned so far on this site.
I'm thinking that 3.25 might be too tall for that cam, infact 3.50 may not be enough gears..........all depends on tire size and what you want to do. I'm sure one of the real gurus will chime in shortly, and give you a better answer...
I'm running 3.50 gears in my truck. I have a similar build as yours, except I have the Crane 343941 cam, which is 272 int / 284 exh with a hair more lift. It gets along JUST FINE. I'm glad I dont have any lower gears (higher numerically) in there, it's revved too high on the highway for my taste as it is. If you like the ability to go 75mph, stay right were you are. Mine will, but the engine is up around 3500rpm.
If you're looking for stoplight racing capability, then by all means go for the 4.11's. Mine is no slouch in that area though.
My desktop dyno is showing 338hp @ 5000rpm, and 420ft-lbs @ 3500rpm. I used unported head flow data, and you're losing a LOT by not having ported the heads.

I agree...a lot does have to do with tires, but also the gearing of that 3 spd tranny. The posi 3.50's for $200 is a good deal (if that is the entire 3rd member for a Ford 9" rear).
Provide more info on the following: Size of rear Tires, 3 spd gearing (1st gear)...
