Also, I have been told there are 4 catalytic converters on these trucks. Could you not just remove two of the catalytic converters and replace the other two with high-flow cats(magnaflows for $80/ea.)to get a better flow. Has any one done this or heard of it being done?? It seems you could have this all done relatively cheap(not the headers).
I just fit 2 high flow magnaflow cats and they are sooo much louder and better sounding than the stock one's. I haven't yet installed headers but i'm going to buy the gibson headers soon. Dude buy the cats there worth it and i'm also suprised not many people replied to this thread ! anyways good luck and hope this helps
Honestly, I think you could remove two of the cats and operate under half and probably still pass emissions (but there might be some ethics involved there). Back in the old days, my friends and I would "knock out" the cats of our 5.0 Liter Mustangs and run with no cats at all and it was loud, free flowing and smelly but we loved it. These trucks are so darn quiet I am pretty confident that halving the catalytics would be a beneficial to everything except pollution.
