Has anyone used or know of a good, yet affordable wire harness that will work in these slicks. i am having a lot of problems with my wiring, i think it would just be easier to start with new harness. any info will greatly help!!!
If you haven't already, check out www.thedetailzone.com for wiring or if you are just looking to replace with an original style harness maybe check out Dennis Carpenter restoration website.
Mr. Mustang reproduces the harnesses. Depending upon the harness they run from around $86 for headlight harness, $95 for taillight, $41 for feed to generator wire, 8 cylinder. The one harness have not been able to locate is the dash harness. Same connector's and wire codes. May want to run search on topic, read other post on topic where members have used the 'painless', or kits simular. If considering Mr. Mustang, they do not list them in their catalog, you have to call to order. Purchased harnesses for 65 and pleased.
Someone said NPD sells them, but I don't know for sure. I have twice requested a catalog and have yet to receive one of them. I am now concerned about ordering with them based on their lack of response for a catalog. They have already missed about $600 in sales from me since I don't have a catalog.
Bob's F-100's makes their own complete harnesses (up to '56) for somewhere around $200.00. They say their wiring harness will work with slicks, and are wired for alternators. Might need to make a minor modification or two, but wouldn't be difficult to make any changes I wouldn't think.
Mac's lists "61-63 dash wiring harness nos f100 thru f350 c1tz-14401-m" for $159.95, and "gauge feed harness" for 65--c5tz-14289 and 66--c6tz-1429 for $62.95 each. I don't know what the gauge feed harness is but the 61-63 harness might be a better start than one from an older year.
