Seven degrees

A fun thread? A stupid thread? I got to thinking today about the “Seven degrees of separation”. (It is seven isn’t it?) So the theory states that you knows someone, who knows someone, … (no more than seven times) who knows anyone.

For example, me and W. My ex-wife’s father was good friends with Dick Cheney, who of course is the VP to our P (so to speak).

So I was wondering, there are more than a few of us HERE who know one another so how many of us on this board know some one who is here and but not aware of it. Or perhaps there is someone here who lives somewhere else who knows someone we used to know when we lived elsewhere.

I’ll go first: Anyone here live or lived in Gainesville, Hudson, or Miami Florida, Lafayette, or Indianapolis Indiana, (or the surrounding areas). If so, let’s see if we know someone or some place in common.

Another one, might be that my ex used to live in Lawrenceville, GA which I believe is not too awful far from dear Dennis’ operation if I’m not mistaken.

(I figured it is worth a shot.)

I met Jim Nabors (Gomer Pyle) at the Indy 500 five years ago! This should provide some interesting results.

In 1990, I was washing a 68 stang on the driveway at a place where I was restoring it.A couple of ladies in there 60's were walking by & I heard a distinct Yorkshire (England) accent.
I stopped them & welcomed them to Canada.
During the conversation the place where she lived came up. I told her I have an Aunt who lives In Harrogate,Yorkshire.

It ended up that this person knew my Aunt very well ,as they go to the same church & volunteer at the same hospital.

About 3 months later my Aunt calls to tell me about how nice that was that I talked with her.

Small world

I was at my best friend's dad's funeral today. While talking with some of the attendees, I found out that a guy that I "worked" for, had a friend who leased some land to another dude that owned a company ... which was bought out by a former employer of mine.

Not sure if this is what you are getting at but, in 1971, a lady moved in behind my sister and they became very close friends. I have always considered her family as we are really close to this lady. She is originally from Germany and was around to see Hitler in power. Her family farm bordered a concentration camp for women and she tells some frightening stories for a little girl of that time. In 2001, one of the family members completed a family history book and we were all going over it when she said a lot of the names were real familiar but were from Germany. Ends up, we're second cousins. My family roots are in Germany from the same town, Popenhagen.

I'm only 3 degrees from Ashton Kutcher.
My wife's roommate from college went on to be an actress, and was in an episode of 'That's 70's Show', where she played the girlfriend of Eric (Topher Grace), who of course knows Ashton.
I guess that'd make me 4 degrees from Demi Moore, 5 degrees from Bruce Willis, and 6 from Samuel L. Jackson.

When I was a kid my parents went on a cross country trip, they borrowed a little popup camper. Well my Dad had car problems, and we stayed at a really nice state park for a couple of days. Fast foward to the present, I ended up after several LD moves living within 5 miles of that park. I went on a business trip to Kansas several years ago, my return trip was delayed by a week. I caught a flight to O'hare, a storm went thru the airport and it was closed., and I ended up in Minnapolis. The next day I got a connecting flight to Raleigh, so I could go to on Washinton. A lady who also got diverted sat next to me. She was in my high school class in Florida, and her locker was right next to mine. This is the real freaky part. About two/thirds thru the flight I realized if you changed the letter in my seat to a number the seat matched my locker number.
