6.0 Reliability

Have there been many problems with your 6.0 PSD equipped with the new automatic trans? I am a little reluctant to shell out $50k for a brand new truck if it's going to be problem prone. I understand that the first year or two there may be some problems as this is the period that Ford uses to "test" there new products, and that every year will obviously get better, It does appear that the majority of negative feedback is where the weather maybe at the extreme cold or hot, so living in California with the weather being very mild, are we less susceptable for developing problems?

There is a lot of talk about transmission issues and poor mpg if you spend any time here reading. You will also come across a few other issues like leaking seal, etc. I am right at 2k miles on my '05 psd and not a lick of problems.

Well, other then I keep wanting to tow this little rice burner out of the parking spot I like at the gym. I mean... come on, do you need to park a 1500lb 2 door ricer in a spot that my crew cab 250 does not come close to filling up? I think my truck could move that little car

I was in the same boat as you wondering on reliability and finally gave and went from a 99 V-10 (awesome truck) to the '05 CC FX4 Lariat and absolutley love it. It rides alot better than the 99-'04's and I have 5,300 miles on it now and not a lick of problems. I read post every night on the 6.0 liter and come to the conclusion that '05's are tight. Every once in a while somebody has an issue with a seal or leaking but remember, most people read and post here in this forum because they have a problem or a gripe about their ride. I do not blame them, I would too, but if all of the positive 6.0 liter owners posted, I would hazard to bet it would be 1000 to 1 that have had significant issues that could not be repaired or their vehicle was bought back. I am a math / statistical geek and know the numbers are close researching the realibility of this '05 truck and engine. Too many people chip their trucks for more power and torque which is OK for heavy work but NOT racing small jap cars.....

Ford builds hese trucks to haul, tug and load, not race, turn nimble and get 40 mpg. Just my 2 cents. Buy it, drive it and occasionally smoke the rears off of it!!(or blow smoke in a ricers door window HAHAHAHA)

As wide and tall as the SDs are, you can probably just straddle the little turd-hopper and park over it!
