Gas question
I just recently purchased an 03 Explorer sport. Since I have bought it, the gas gauge readings very greatly while I am driving. The gauge will go from 3/4 tank to 1/2 tank to over 3/4 in a 15 min drive on the expressway. Or it will bounce between 1/4 to the low fuel light and back. Does anyone else have this issue or is the gauge faulty. Please help!! It is one of those really annoying things to look at when you are driving. Especially with high gas prices!!

I have a '97 Sport and it does the same thing, but maybe not quite as much. I've noticed when going down hills the gauge reads less gas and up hills the gauge reads more gas. Must have something to do with where the float is located in the gas tank. Probably towards the rear of the tank.
I agree with JerrySimm, if its under warranty, have them look at it.

This seems to be an issue with the anti-slosh module. My '96 XLT is annoying with the gas gauge. If I park it on a hill facing down, the gauge drops drastically when I start it. It doesn't seem to know how to compensate correctly.
