With all the wheels for sale on E-bay and elsewhere, which one would fit on a ' 38 1/2 ton? Some sellers just know they came off a Ford, you're lucky if they know what year!! Also, are there companies that sell ready-made wiring harnesses that fit where you take the old ones' from? Thanks- JH
Wiring harnesses; check YnZ's, Rhode Island Wiring; there are others. Get a copy of Hemmings.
Steering wheel; parts numbers may not do you any good, but a picture and dimension of a correct wheel for '38 may help you decide if a wheel on ebay is correct. You can email the seller and ask for a measurement. Not to insult your intelligence, but ask for the diameter, don't ask, "Is it XXinches in diameter?". It could be like a swap meet. You ask a dishonest vender, or at least a clueless one, and that part you are holding will fit whatever you want it to.
It looks like from what I can find the steering wheel taper is the same from 1932-1948. I found one site with a banjo style steering wheel for 1937-39, but it was $219, new. The years 37-39 just mean it is period correct for a car. But the car banjo should fit the truck. I have seen them new and renewed and they look nice.
