EGR Flow: High AND Low!

2001 F150, 4.6: I got a SES light and low EGR flow DTC. I assumed it had plugged from excessive idling (I was running power to my house-under-construction from my truck's inverter).

Later, the SES went out and I assumed the blockage had cleared. Then it came back on. This time I have two DTC's: low EGR flow, and high EGR flow.

Any guesses on what is happening?

Yup....you probably need a new DPFE sensor which is what tells the PCM how much EGR flow is happening.

Thank you! Apparently you've seen this frequently. Do you feel my odds would be good if I got a new sensor and stuck it in? Or is this just the most likely of several possibilities?

I now have 94,000 miles on the truck, and the DPFE sensor was replaced once previously (at~20,000 miles) under warranty. Is this an "emissions related part" and therefore subject to the longer warranty?

If you apply vacuum to the EGR valve with the engine idling it should stumble or stall.
If it doesn't then the problem is the valve itself or the ports in the intake manifold are plugged. If it does stumble or stall then it's a pretty safe bet that the DPFE is the problem.
You can just stick a piece of vacuum hose on the EGR valve and suck on the end of it for testing.
The DPFE is an emissions part but I have no idea what the warranty coverage is.
I would only use a genuine Ford part as it has been changed up and is supposedly better.

Federally mandated emissions warranty is 8/80 (except CA).
