shacle flip ride

I have a 93 f350 deisel 4x4 crew. I'm just finishing welding up my front shackle reversal kit, now i'm thinking about doing a rear shackle flip kit to get the back up. Just wondering about ride quality and carring / towing with it. As for towing it woul be a 25' travel trailer ang carring woul be 2 snowmobiles. does it creat truck sway and woul fabricating a trak bar for the rear fix it. any info is a help thanks.

ps the truck will be sporting new 37" cooper stt' s and mickey thompson 17's to go with the 5" existing lift.

you do NOT want to tow a 25' TT with a truck that has been shackle flipped. the shackles would buckle and pretzel over the first good turn you made even at low speeds. i suggest a taller block or AAL or something

if that setup is under 5k lbs im sure youl be ok, just be careful, that shackle is designed to be in tension, not compression, so keep the tongue weight light

You know what, at work (install truck accesories), i noticed that the new dodge's use a compression shackle setup, but the shackle is a bit beefier that what the tension shackle you would have underneath your one ton.

all i was saying is that 1/4" plate wouldn't be enough for the shackles... now go with something like 1/2" or 9/16" plate then you should be fine

Question

I'm not planning to use the stock shackles, but I am planning to use the stock hangers. I'm tgoing to cut of the rivets and flip them 180. this should give me abot 2" -2 1/2" inches to match the front. do you think this will make ahandling problem. I cat see it changing the payload much with this setup

Never Done,
Have you driven the truck yet with the shackle reversal? Did you make your own or buy one?
As for the rear I was thinking of dropping the front and rear of the springs to keep the shackles in compression.
Btw, what type of lifted did you have in the truck originally and do you have any new picks?
Sorry for the questions, but I have been debating about doing the shackle reversal to my truck for quite a while.

Thanks,
Mudman

Thumbs up

Rawpower - i'll try to post some pics of the kit this weekend, i'll take a few of it being installed

Mudman - Yes i have drived a truck with a reverse kit in it, and in my opinion it's like night and day. the truck was running 35's (same as whats on mine in the picks) it handled way better. the front end didn't float, i know with the 35's on mine troughs in the road pull it all over. in the pics the truck is running 4" springs, 4" drop pitman, 3" trac bar relocation. I'll try to post some new picks of the lift and the truck with my new 37's on it. I now what you meand about lowering the hangers but i'm going to do the flip with heavy duty shackles cause i'm only wanting to lift the back 3". when its done the truck should have a total of 7" - 8" inch lift
