Finally got the 390 in it's new home and actually got it fired. Everything was going well when she burst into flames and well as of this day I have lost my 65 galaxie and the $4000, I had into parts in the motor.
The only good thing out of the whole mess is she didnt blow sky high but the way I feel now kinda would have been more meaningful.
Well the garage stands still but definitely needs some revamping.
Getting a little discouraged and not even for sure I am going to even bother with the rag top now.

Sorry it been so long getting back with Ya all but heres the scoop We've been clearing the melt out of the way, and so far it seems to have stemmed from a few bad wires the shop installed right after they had the car dropped off. The shop was hired ( and for alot of reasons name is being with held they are only as good as there parts) for the wiring and upholstery frankly cause I was a little wore out from the other details put into the car.
Not sure if they are going to cover the cost of replacing what they damaged but the insurance company been going thru my receipts and outsourced labor pretty hard.
Guess the only good news is at least I had it covered, and recently re appraised.
I am not 100% positive but I dont think that anyone has any thing to fear as far as the 65's being a firebug. As long as they are sure the wiring is good.
Thing thats kicking my butt right now is if I want to spend the same amount of time I put into the hard top to even begin with the 67 convertible I have.
As far as hurt no I am o.k though missing alot of snow on the ground by the pole barn.
Wish every one luck with there trucks and F.E's I'll be away from here awhile as I sort out the mess and console in some liquid encouragement awhile.
Peace.

I am so very sorry to hear about this. My son lost his 68 stang fastback when the garage caught fire one night. He had worked all summer restoring the car and was just finishing the body work. Engine ,tranny and suspension was all complete and rebuilt and the car was being prepped for paint. The car and garage were both a total loss and heartbreaking to see all that work shot to hell. Not to mention the money invested. Insurance covered the garage and some of the car but not enough to cover everything he had into it. The fire was so big it made the local paper. Glad to hear your ok and no one was injured. G.
When I was 18 I took on the job of putting a front end in a squareback VW. After we got the front end in we discovered the engine locked up because it had been sitting so long. I filled the crankcase with diesel and let it set for a week every day beating on the flywheel trying to break it loose....I finally got it unstuck...cleaned the plugs and got it running...5 minutes after I got it running the diesel that had blown out into the muffler caught fire and the car burnt to the ground....thank goodness it was outside away from the house. I didn't get physically hurt but my pride was damaged badly...lol. I learned a few things from that incident...One was to always have a good fire extinguisher handy.
Yeah Id like to see, it, i just put my motor in today and fired it, didnt have time to break it in due to the valve cover gaskets leaking so bad , but i got tommarow
