I recently had some problems with a 93 Ranger 4.OL I blew the head gasket on the passenger side so I changed it after that I had some overheating problems it ran ok after the gasket was replaced but eventually it just quit?this all started after I had to remove the alt. to replace a thermostat when I put the negative battery cable on after reinstalling the alt. I burned up a fusable link? I fixed that with simalar guage wire. to make a long story short I drove it for 4 miles then it quit. It turned over fine but didn't fire? had all electrical I replaced the crank sensor the coil the relay, plug wires, had the module checked still nothing. I finally broke down and towed it to a ford dealer close by they checked the compression and 3 of the cylinders didn't even register the others showed low readings. they said we can start tearing it down or replace the motor for $3,000 well I figured ya bite me! I only paid $3,800 for it I then asked if they knew where I could find a used motor they found one with 150,000 on it but it runs fine mine had the same milage and since I just moved here three hours away from friends family stuff like that I really don't have a choice I said if you can keep it low reasonable then swap motors they quoted me no more then $1,500 to swap motors and replace gaskets if it needs it I figured fine the truck has a new clutch, transfer case, tires,no rust in good shape so the question is is it worth it? I think it is considering I looked at some used trucks and all of them were in ok shape nothing like mine and all for between $1,800 and $2,500 all had more then 175,000 mls. so I guess $1,500 is not bad considering I can be driving it in under a week. any comments would be appreciated I guess I'm just looking for another opinion take into consideration I paid cash for the truck so I don't have any payments I also have 40 hours and $1,200 into wiring and a sound system alarm some accent lights so I really don't want to sell it besides who wants a truck with a smoked motor? I think I'm running out of options so I said do it! thanks for any help.

I would of did the same thing you did. Finding another used truck can lead to the same problems. I see you have alot of new parts already. Why start over with another highmiled truck. Too bad it couldn't have been something little. Good luck to you.
