I just got done having a new injector installed. I did this after a long and aggravating ordeal where I had my ECM reflashed. It's a long story. Anyway, I reinsterted my chip and turned the key. I did not get a "wait to start" light on my 99 F-350 diesel. Any ideas? It worked fine before.
Yeah, everything worked normal. I bought the truck used with the chip in it so I don't know anything about it's programming. It is a BD X-Power chip. Everything worked normal before I had to have the work done. I put the chip back in the other day and nuttin'. I never did start the truck. I cycled the key twice to be certain, definately no "W.T.S." light. So I just took it back out. Do I need to start the truck to get everything going?
Okay, sounds like the chip is a 1 bank chip and the computer's reflash doesn't match it any more. You're going to need to contact BD, or one of their dealers and have the chip reburned to match the new PCM code. The new code is 4 digits on a white sticker.
With reflashes they usually put the new sticker:
1. On the driver's door frame near the hinges
2. On the driver's door, near the door latch.
3. Under the hood on the firewall or on the radiator.
The correct sticker is easy to spot. Its just about square, a little larger than a postage stamp. It will always be three letters followed by one number.
Well, that would certainly make sense. I don't think I'm going to put that chip back in. I definately miss the extra umph, that is for sure. I was thinking more along the lines of a simple programmer that can also read codes. What would you recommend for a 99' diesel F-350? I am in a trade off between simplicity and price. I don't want some XYZ brand if it is the cheapest. I don't know much about these things. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I do a lot of freeway driving. I have a few tool boxes full at all times in my truck and I pull miniexcavators from time to time, maybe 14k.
