An old friend has decided to sell me his 82' F-150 Explorer with a aluminum shell. It's a 4x4 shortbed with a 6 cyl/manual and 68k. On the downside it needs the bench seat re-upholstered, has 2 cracks in the dash, needs 4 new tires and the 2 tone blue paint job is starting to fade.
On the upside, he is the orignal owner and is a retired mechanic and kept all of the maintenance/repair records. The body/grill/bumpers are perfect with no dings or dents. Everything in it works, even the A/C and still has the original hubcaps on it. Anyone have a guess about what a fair price would be for this? I have pestered him on and off for the last 5 years to sell it to me, tonight he told me to give him what I think it's worth. I have known him since I was 8 and would rather over pay than under pay.
A truck like that here would probably bring about $2000-$2500. I've seen several low miles good shape earlier 80's trucks go for as much as 5 grand at auctions. These trucks cost very similar to that brand new.
You didn't mention which six it had. I hope it's the 300 and not that 3.8L.
It's the original engine, the 300. We came to a deal this morning, $6000 and I also will get his 16' tandem flatbed and 24' Terry camp trailer. We figured $2500 a piece for the camp trailer and Ford, $1000 for the flatbed. Now I get to hear Wifey
comment that I have too much junk AND need to buy 12 tires right off the bat
Thanks
Alan , If you ever want to sell your 95 F350 to offset the cost of the stuff you just bought or your wifes nagging , let me know , thats a sweet looking truck , Id sleep in it to avoid any question as to why I need another truck from my wife .
