Windshield Wipers
I have a 1971 Ford F-100 and was wondering, how do I replace the windshield wiper motor on my truck? I looked at my truck and a manuel, and it looks like I have to take off the dash...? I can really get under it or through the front...am I suppose to?
Thanks.
Edit- And can I adjust the timing of the engine by turning the distributor left/right? A friend of mine told me that but didn't want to do anything dumb.

Electric Type up to 1977-
1. The motor is mounted on the left side of the windshield header. To remove the motor it will be neccesary to first remove the cover and disconnect the linkage arm and pivot shaft assembly from the motor driving arm by removing the retaining clip.
2. Disconnect the motor electrical leads at the multiple connector. Remove the two bolts and nuts that attach the motor mounting bracket to the windshield header, and remove the bracket and motor assembly.
3. Install the windshield wiper motor in the reverse order of removal. When installing the motor, tighten the motor bracket-to-windshield header bolts to 48-72 in/lbs and the nuts to 20-30 in/lbs.
There are also other steps for a vacuum type, but still doesn't mention any dash-removal. I doesn't say which years those were used, but if that's what you need, let me know and I'll post that as well. I haven't had to do it yet myself so can't give any personal experience on this one.
