I Have Just Bought A 2002 F-250 Psd My Problem Is This. I Know You Have To Warm Up The Engine A Little Before Driving. Reading Posts I See Anywhere From 2 To 5 Min Is A Good Warm Up Time. My Issue Is If I Dont Warm The Engine Up Enough At Least To Were The Enigne Temp Gauge Begins To Move When I Start To Drive The Truck Will Ct Like There Is No Fuel The Pedal Can Be Floored But No Responce From The Engine Unless I Release The Gas Pedal And Let It Idle And Sometimes The Truc Kwill Just Die As If It Was Out Of Gas. Is This Problem From The Diesel Gelling Or Bad Diesel? I Live In Houston Tx And The Current Moring Temps Have Been In The 40's To 50's.
The low power problem is the exhaust back pressure valve. It closes to help warm the truck up. Its a butterfly valve right after the turbo. That sounds normal. But the dying when you release the throttle dosen't. Hopfully someone will have some ideas about that.
When you hit the throttle to the floor does it blow black smoke and make a loud hissing noise. Sounds like the exhaust back pressure valve to me. I would also check your fuel filter. Maybe plugged up. Let us know!
Sounds like the back pressure sensor or the tube may be plugged. Try unpluging the electrical connector on the sensor to see if it makes a difference. It will default the valve to the open position.
the tank is full no problem with tha and i am not sure if the fuel filter is clogged because as soon as the truck gets to operating temp it runs fine it only has proboems if i try to leave with out warming up for 5 min i willl try disconnecting the butterfly valve to see if that helps
well i disconnected the butterfly valve and i did notice less restriction when i am driving but it did not solve the problem of the truck bogging out and stalling when it hasent been warmed up. like i said before once the engine is warmed up there are no problems it only occurs in the morning. if i let the truck warm up for about 5 min its fine or if i plug the truck in at night it is fine but if i just turn it on and try to drive it boggs down and stalls out. not sure what is going on here.
Maybe try a thinner oil. The hpop may not be filling up fast enough until your oil has thinned out. Thick oil does not flow to well. When you plug it in it heats the oil. Thin oil flows good. Just a sugestion.
I would be hesitant to put a thinner oil in if you are in Texas. Pretty warm down there. But I fully agree with lancer on the oil change. Give it a try and see. And NO ADDITIVES! Just good quality oil of your choice as long as it's diesel rated.
