gear ratios again
block front tires
jack up rear of truck
put transmission in neutral
put chalk mark on driveshaft and tire
turn tire by hand exactly one turn
count the number of times the driveshaft turns
example: driveshaft turns 3 1/2 times means that you have a rear-end ratio of 3.55
Method 2.
remove differential cover
count teeth on ring gear
count teeth on pinon gear
divide
this is the most accurate method.
tags , etc can't be trusted on an older vehicle. somebody could have changed things since the vehicle left the factory.
