i have a 1980 bronco with the original 351M and 4 speed tranny. will any other engines such as 351W or 302 hook up to the 4 speed? what do i need to install a different engine ? thanks
The optional motors were 351M, 351W, 302, 300I6 I believe.
Any of those v8 will bolt right up except for the tranny, the 351M uses the bigblock bolt pattern. and the other motors use the small block bolt pattern.
If your motor is worn I would get a crank and rods from a 400M and rebuild your block and build a 400M, those old motors can put some major torque too the wheels.
My 80 had a 351m in it orginally, but now has 460 with auto. I wish it was a 4sp. I like the bigger engine, mileage sucks but thats the way of the Bronco.

i am looking at a 400M rebuilt engine, will this engine bolt right up to my 1980 stock 4-speed?
