I'm planning to do a radiator & heater core flush, & I have two questions:
1. How do I know if my '97 Expedition 2WD 4.6L has a single or double-row radiator? The capacities are different for each type & I don't want to have to buy anymore of that $12/gallon Motorcraft coolant than I must.
2. How do I determine the direction of flow of the heater hoses into the heater core?
If you drain the radiator enoiugh to be able to see the top of the radiator tubes through the fill opening you should be able to see the row(s) of openings across the top. That is the number of tubes/rows. Usually one of the hoses that connects to the heater core connects at the back of the intake manifold or a fitting on one of the heads, that is the input. The hose that connects from the heater core to the water pump is the return.
