Hey all, heres a fun one, I have spent countless hours on this truck trying to get it to run right. It is an '80 F-150 with a 351W, the problems started with a leaking brake booster (could hear it hissing in the cab), anyway, I replaced it with another one I robed off a buddy's truck, then it ran fine but actually sucked the pedal away from my foot when I started to push it. So I replaced it with a new one and the brakes work fine now but the engine still actls like the booster is leaking. I know there aren't any other leaks because if I plug off the booster line it runs great. Any ideas?
I actually just thought of this, could it be leaking around the master cyl? or, I never checked this but the pcv line could be hoked right to the intake while the brake booster could be hooked to the carb. I don't know if that makes a diff though.
If there lines were switched, that would make a big difference. Everytime the booster pulled a differnet vacuum load, it would change your fuel/air mixture. I would definantly check that first.
But I think the biggest problem is that you have a 351W and your user name is 351M, getting that fixed might help.......just kidding!
It ain't my truck or it would be one of 5 engines, either a 300, a 351 C or M or a 429/460. Its actually My girlfriend's sister's truck, I told her I could have sold her a better truck for $1000 but she bought that instead.
