As for selling, I said it before, it will sell to those people who cant get there heads straight and want something like an avalanche. It's not goin to be that popular though, so none of the major manufacturers should have to worry.
Most of you won't remember or probably weren't even born yet, but we made all kinds of fun of Honda in the early 70s when they introduced the Super 90 Honda motorcycle and the Honda 600 car (2 cylinder, air cooled and tiny). We sat around while Honda ran cute commercials (You meet the nicest people on t Honda, etc), sold cars and motorcycles and learned. The shortage and price of gas gave them a big boost and they took over a large part of the market. Maybe they're going after a market we don't realize is there again.
"theshyguy" i would have to say that your wrong about the selling thing.. i mean around here just in chichago and southbend. They cant keep them in stock.. they have sold 400+ in a week at one dealer in chichago and there is about 7 dealers there.. i think they can keep selling. as long as people dont really want a full size truck they will buy the honda which is kinda/ car/truck combo..
Well lets just say I hope they dont sell. I dont want to think people will by something that useless and uncomfortable just because it says Honda. But what can I say, it seems to have worked in the past.
Everytime I see one of those Ridgeline commercials, I just laugh thinking about the western theme and all the farmers and ranchers here in northcentral mt, I can see all the wannabees driving one though, of all the farmers and ranchers here I don't see them pulling a horse trailer or any load of hay with that thing
Honda makes great fuel effiecnt cars, the ridgeline is about the most hidous thing I have yet to see on 4 wheels. Hondas are great quaitly, with fuel prices the way they are, some day I may buy a 20 year old Honda 4 banger for $500 that gets 30mpg, but I think Ill keep my trusty old 66 F-100.
From what I remember the mileage wasnt all that good. Low 20's if it was even that good.
You're right. My daughter has a 2002 Odyssey and the best they have gotten is 22 MPG and the Ridgeline has the same engine and is 4X4. I think fuel mileage will be similar to our V8s. The wonderful fuel mileage Toyota's Tundra has a lower fuel mileage rating and actually uses more fuel (according to my friend who has one) than my 5.4 4X4 F150. The 98 Toyota Camry V6 has a fuel mileage rating only 2 MPH (both city and highway) than my 98 Lincoln Towncar. I guess reputation trumps facts.
I agree the tundra mileage sucks. My 3.4 v6 tundra averages around 16 mpg city/highway. The v8 sucks up even more gas. I don't think it is because of the motor, but mainly gearing. Auto v6's come with 4.33 gear ratios while the v8 tundras have 3.90 ratio!!!!
