Turbo 6.9

What is the expected life-span of a turbo'd 6.9 (1986 F250)?

200,000 to 400,000 miles depending on how it is used and cared for.

I'm up to 190,000 on the original head gaskets in my 87.

I'd probably set aside a little $$$ for a rainy day. If the antifreze was changed regularly and you haven't overheated it, then they should last forever. But then again, you never know with an 18 yr old motor.

slammin 6.9

a friend of mine used to have an '86 F-250 with a 6.9 that had a Banks Sidewinder Turbo System installed. this included the exhaust system too. it was pretty bitchin. beast had close to 300,000 miles on it and ran like it was brand new. the turbo kit had been on the truck for 3 years when i found out about it. that truck could pull like nobody's business. whooped the snot out of some mercedes hotshot when i was riding along one day. even with an automatic transmission, the truck would pull hard enough to twist the cab when it left the line. not bad for a supercab long bed two wheel drive diesel double tanker. thats alotta truck to lift like that...
