I was stopped for road construction so out of boredom i read my owners manual and in it I read that if you change tire sizes you have to go to a Ford dealer to get the computor reconfigured for that tire size. It can only be done 6 times apparantly. Has any one ever done this? My truck came with 235/15 from factory but now has 31/10/15s. This may be the cause of my engine miss while going up hill even if only slightly up hill.

Very unlikely to be causing any problems other than speedo reading. Your new tires are causing the speedo to read about 6% low. At an indicated 65 you're going an actual 69. Not really worth the cost of reprogramming, which by the way is a 5 minute job. The easiest solution is simply to drive at a little slower indicated speed and not worry about it. If you really care, the instructions for the reprogramming are somewhere in the archives on this site, have fun searching.
