i need a set of heads that are done and ready to bolt on and go. anyone know where i can get a set and if so how much and were. i was told that with the valves being burnt in the heads that usually ford heads would warp. so i am assuming i need to replace both of them. can anyone verify this any help is always appreciated.
sincerly,
John T.
Also check with your favorite local part store (Autozone/Checker/NAPA). They can get remanned heads, usually the C8 or D2 castings, complete for about $225/each (my head refresh cost $600, just for comparisons)
I've got some heads lying around but they probably need to be reconditioned. One off of a 390 and two from a 352. I believe the only major difference is the size of the combustion chamber and the runners. Are you in a hurry?

okay no i am not in a big hurry but i am gonna have this truck running soon enough. i have pretty much decided to stay with the 390 although the 300i6 was a good idea i just really like to have that extra power when i need it. when my grandmother is in the hospital dying and i am on a job site i want to be able to go faster than 70-80 on the hwy to get back to her. lmao i know you guys are probably thinking i am some kind of nut but i have to put her on life support when she needs me and time is of the essences. i always keep something that will do what i need it to. right now i got a chebbie van that i drive and it has done it twice already. with a 305. i made a 70 mile trip in 32.5 minutes door to emergency room door. speaking of which emergencys have been a thing i grown up with and while i talking about speed lmao i have got some stores to tell about her and the big red bird. her 1986 ECOLINE VAN with a 302. she made it from xenia ohio to lexington kentucky in 1 hour because my cousin had a stroke and her being just a 6 month old baby my grandmother made that van dance. so yes she raised me to drive fast in nessary situations. she would say john thats what the good lord made the wheels round for! Plus she taught me to drive fords so she didn't to bad a job of rasing this nut if i do say so myself. lol just a little insight guys not meant to get personal.
I got home from work and took another look at the heads. They are naked so you'd have to get everything for them. I can have them worked up and charge you what I pay to have them done up. Obviously, you'd have the shipping, also. Valves will run you between $6-$12 each and the springs will be about $60 per head. These prices may be off, it's been a while since I priced them.
I'm sorry to hear your grandmother is having such a rough go of it. My mom just got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and going through treatments so I know all about having to get somewhere in a hurry.
i am sorry to hear about your mother. i know how rough it can be. expecally because i just got a phone call that momma is not gonna be here much longer. well go ahead and get me a price on redoing those heads and send me a private message with the grand total. do you have 390 heads or just the 352's and if it is just the 352's will they definantly work on my 390. sorry i just got into the fe board so i don't know what interchanges and what don't. if i am gonna buy them i would like them to be in the condition where there ready to bolt on and only need a little tweaking.

The heads will work on a 390, the blocks are the same. That's one of the beauties of the FE engine family. I just called "my guy" at the shop and he's going to let me know about how much it'll be. He thinks he may have some springs laying around. Let's hope so. I may even have some valves laying around here, I'll have to check. I'll let you know something in a couple of days.
