We have owned the truck for around 4 years now, it is a 1999
My father drives the truck almost all the time and he never puts it into 4wd,
I have went through the proper procedures as well. When we first got the truck it all worked and the last time I used the truck and went to put it in 4WD it acted as if the switch did not make at all, no sounds, clicks, grinds or anything.
I asked my dad if it had ever happened to him and he did say one time it took forever to get it out of 4 wheel low.

Is it the switch or actuaters???
Any info would be great!
Do a search here on "ESOF".
Get ready to copy and paste the different methods to get it to function again. Once you get it to where it will shift, then begin shifting often to ensure it will work each time.
Try this before changing parts and pieces. If it doesn't work, then you can feel confident that it's the servo (transfer case shift) motor or the switch.
My truck will not lock into 4x4 unless I'm moving. if I stop the front will not re-engage under 5 to 10 MPH??? Somthing with a centrifical clutch?? I must turn the hubs to lock If I want to get the boat out of the back yard. The dash switch alone will not lock the front end. down the road 4x4 in auto works great.
