Am I being naive or does it seem unreasonable for the dealership to not have found the keys and owners manual(dealer packet) to my truck since I took delivery last Monday? They called me Sun. afternoon and I made it in on Mon. morning to take delivery. They had to get a locksmith before they could even show me the truck and said they would find the packet when the employee responsible came to work on Wed. morning. I spent an hour on the showroom floor Wed. while they were trying to track down my factory packet to no avail. Any ideas how I should deal with this on Monday morning? I love the truck but would like a owners manual and the factory keys in my possession. Thanks in advance for your wisdom.
IT seems unreasonable. I would demand they find it and provide an explanation ASAP, those keys could be used to steal your truck next week. I would ask that they call this employee right now, and do it on a speakerphone while you are present.
The dealer has access to the key codes. All they need to do is cut 2 new keys and give them to you, grab an owner's manual from another similar truck in-stock, and give you a couple remotes from the parts department if your truck has keyless entry. Apparently, they're too cheap to do that.

Jeff, They gave me two 'locksmith' keys and on Wed. the salesman called and said he had a owners manual from a F250 KR he would give me, but thats not my point. I'm concerned that some lube guy or car washer has my new keys with a VIN # right on the packet. I feel if they really tried, they could dedicate someone to finding that packet, even if its on the back seat floor of a car in the back lot. I call it finish what you start. My wife says I'm ****...
Your wife is right. If they reprogramed the keyless entry and the securilock the old keys are useless to start the vehicle. Those keys may be premanently gone and no amount of looking will find them. You got the vehicle, you got keys, and you got a manual. Someone messed up and lost the originals, s**t happens - let it go. You will only shorten your own life and happiness if you stress over things you can not control. If it would make you feel better, make them rekey the vehicle.
Chomper, You are right, my wife is right and my blood pressure suffers from 'not letting it go'. But, the dealer has not reprogrammed anything - maybe the 'rekey' is the answer. That would mean a different ingnition switch, right? So now there would be two keys, one for the door and one for the ignition - they would have to match the door locks with the ignition switch for it to be 'right'. We're spending a lot of money for something 'makeshift', not new from the factory.
The new keys are the only ones that will now work. If they found the original keys they would have to reprogram them using your two new keys. Same with the remote keyless entry (FOB). The only thing missing is the original door combination, they can look that up and give it to you since the factory code never changes. If they gave you some ugly key blank instead of a KR or original Ford key, buy a new blank, have it cut and program it yourself. I did the same so if I ever lose one I can still make more.
There are no chipped, "PATS" (Passive Anti-Theft System) keys to a Super-Duty. If someone has the original keys, and the dealer didn't replace the lock sets, then those original keys will open the doors and start the truck.
I think waltdog and jeff are right. My salesman made a big deal about how lucky I was to be spared the cost of 'chipped' keys. Until I read Jeff's post I was wondering how kevincw knew my wifes name was Pat...
They need to re-key all the locks and record the code so that they can replace the keys if required. Have the locksmith record the code for you also. Keep the code and a spare key in a safe place. Give thanks to the God above that you don't have PATS.
