Fan switch ?

Ok,
So, I am falling in love with this truck, (77 super cab)and I bought it for my new company I just opened up for a delivery truck and told myself not to get attached to it.Yea Right!
Got to say, I got this thing for only $800.00 and it is very
clean and turns allot of heads were ever I go,every thing
is stock and she cleans up pretty nice!metallic blue and
all the chrome trim is in great shape after all the years.
Since I have had it, every day someone asks me what year,
and tells me what a clean truck it is,and I have to say its a
great fealing! Soo now that I am attached, got a few ?s
The fan switch for the heater does not work on high and
I was wondering can I replace just that switch or do I
have to replace the whole panel ?and also were is a good
place for parts for my truck?would like to get a new chrome
bumper for it and was wondering who is a good source for
the switch and bumper?
Thanks for any help,
Allen,Payson, AZ

Hello and welcome to FTE. Sounds like a nice truck. What motor/tranny ? You can replace the switch only without the panel. The switch comes out the back of the panel. You will need to remove the panel on the dash though. The switch should be around $20 depending on where you get it. If the switch doesnt cure the problem it may be the resistor, and that is located on the heater box underneath the passenger side dash.

It has a 351M and 4-speed trans.
Its a long story, but this guy bought a van from me, and had $800
left on it he still owed me,well after waiting several months I told
him to give me the truck and we would call it even and I would give him the title to the van, which turned out good for me as I
needed a truck for my new buisness I just opened up.
The guys wife was pregnant and he took the stock steering wheel
out and replaced it with about a 12" round after market thing so
she could drive the truck, think he would have kept the stock stearing wheel? (Heck No) so thats another thing I want to replace in it.(a Radio would be nice also)as it is gone too!
but all in all it is a pretty sound truck, and needs a little TLC.

There was a change in the heater blower switch plugin configuration starting with serial number #CA0001 in 1978. The ford dealer has both.

At one time I asked for a blower switch for a '74 ford and I got the newer style, which didn't fit. I asked the ford dealer to drag out the microfiche and look up the number, which he did. He still had one of the old ones in stock.

Just make sure you get the right one.

A new OEM replacment wheel is spendy, but im sure you can find one somewhere. Local auto parts stores carry the aftermarket ones that are not too spendy, but I would go with atleast a 14", you dont want a little steering wheels when that pump goes out....

I was looking at the auto parts store wheels and will probably
go with one of them,I am pulling a trailer for my buisness and
really don't like driving and pulling a trailer at all with the
little steering wheel he put on it.
I am still wondering if there is a on line store for parts that you guys prefer and is there any parts suppliers in AZ that you know
of.
Thanks again for all the help,
Allen
