I have a new 2005 F250 SuperCrew Power Stroke. When I say new I mean, 80 miles on the truck, real new. my dealer replaced ny 2004 due to many issues.
I just brought the truck home and I have oil leak marks on the ground. I looked under the truck and found very black oil dripping from the right rear head gasket down the transmission onto the ground. The truck again is new and the oil is nearly clear, transmission fluid is red so I have no idea what this could be.
Any suggestions would be great. At first I thought is may be a "assembly lubricate" but I really have no idea. There appears to be a large amount the jhas leaked.
No idea on what it could be. Someone may have gotten sloppy filling fluids??? I would try to clean it up and see if it reappears. Doubt it's assembly grease if it made it's way to the ground. Hopefully someone else will pipe in with a better answer.
It looks like old transfer case fluid or heavy rear end oil. Very dark, grutty, and not easy to get off the hands. It looks like it is coming from the head gasket area but have no idea what it could from...
The OIL is actually the anti-corrision paint applied to the motor. It would appear that once the motor was warm, the extra paint melted and started dripping down the starter onto the ground. The dealer placed some dye in the engine to make sure but it would appear the leak is just extra anti-corrision.
This stuff will stain the driveway and anything else it may touch..
