liftgate latch

brothers 2000 exp. liftgate will not open, key turns both ways but neither latch releases. can gate be opened from inside & how please.

well since its closed and wont open with the key how do i get it opened to fix it.

My wife's 2000 Explorer Sport isn't here for me to get a visual, but I believe you can remove the panel on the back of the hatch while it is closed. Will be more difficult, but should be able to do it. Good Luck.

when i looked at it there see,s to be a small "inspectioncover" right above the latch guess we'll find out if i can open it from there.

strange thing happened to me today. never had a problem with the liftgate glass in my 02 explorer, but got home and pressed release button by liscense plate but would not open. i locked and unlocked doors again but same thing.....any one seen this before???
