Stiff throttle at startup
Get in the van, pump the gas peddle -- smooth.
Start the engine.
Put the van is gear and attempt to apply slight throttle. You have to apply a ton of pressure and then you roar off down the street. It doesn't matter in the van is in gear or no. Hot or cold, no difference. Let is sit a day. Same. Try it 10 seconds later, same. After two or three pumps on the peddle it operates smoothly, until you shut the engine off and try to restart it.
Anyone have any ideas on where to start? It's definitely not the peddle itself -- I tried to work the cable by hand after startup and couldn't .
TIA
Peter

Usually if the throttle moves easily with the engine off but is stiff when it's running that is because the throttle plate is binding in the throttle body. The throttle body will probably have to be replaced to cure it. Cleaning it may help temporarily.
