Here we go, My husband has saved 5 vcrs in the past. They either don't record, rewind, or the tape gets stuck. Yet, he keeps them for that one day, we can afford to fix them all. SO, I got him to break down and let me get rid of them. Anybody ever trade for repair on another one? We have a 6 head Toshiba, that all we're missing is the remote (thank you toddler!). We have so many, save it so we can fix it things, it makes me sick
The other idea? Just realized I have about 1 year left on my 35" tires. After I save up on new ones, I thought about donating them to a preschool, or such for use for tire swings.
blu, your husband sounds like a packrat like me. I finally minimized my collection of 'oh so good junk' just before our last move. Now I'm trying to keep our garage clutter free, but it takes a lot of will power, LOL! Look in an electronics store like Radio Shack or the electronic dept. in a big department store for a generic type remote. Might keep that VCR going a few more years!
You won't ever get anything for those VCR's, and they aren't really worth repairing. DVD's are way too prevalent...it would be like repairing a Cassette Deck.
I have a better idea: donate them to Goodwill for a tax deduction. They won't know they don't work until after you got your deduction slip.
Or you could stand out front of your house with an 8 lb sledgehammer and charge neighborhood kids 5 bucks for 10 whacks, then just trash them.
Good Luck.

I think donating them is a great idea. VCR's and cell phones are becoming like disposable diapers! They are so cheap and easily replaced. These items (especially cell phones) are predicted to become an environmental problem in the near future.
To all you aspiring entrepreneurs- find a use for used cell phones and VCR's and get rich!

Actually if you have that extra cell phone you can usually donate it to a battered womens' shelter or senior groups because that refurbish them and let the peopele have them to use since all cell phones have to be able to dial 911.
Cell phones are already an environmental problem. They pollute my life with their STUPID ringtones and the idiot talking into it. I abhor them, but dammit if they aren't handy...I don't own one, but I will have to soon when I get my business up and running (it's only even worth it because it's a write-off).
As for VCR's...mine doesn't work either and Santa failed to bring me a DVD player this year. I think I'll smash a mailbox with it or something...:7 Just kidding, Mr. Postal Inspector.
