Hard starting

I have 74 F250 4X4 w/390 and holly 4 barrel. I installed a new fuel pump and replace the fuel filters a few months back and lately when I start the truck it seems to take a while before it will start. I noticed that soon after I stop the engine the fuel filter between the carb and the fuel pump quickly empties, draining back to the fuel pump. I dont have any fuel leaks and the pump works great when the truck is running. Do I need a new fuel pump?

Sounds like it. It shouldn't be draining back. You might also check to make sure that gas is not dumping down the carb into the intake after shutting it off form heat perculation.
