Hello, I know a windstar is not a truck ,but I need some help.
My dual cats on this thing seem to be disintegrating as I drive it. I called my local dealer for replacements , it is a fully welded assy. so I thought I should replace the whole thing at once. That is until I found out that this whole thing costs
$1186.74 , so my question is, can I replace the dual cats with 1 single high flow cat? Bending the exhaust is not an issue and neither is the added exhaust note. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Bill
You might get lucky yet. Go to your local Checker auto and look through their newest Catco Catalytic converter catalog. You are looking for a single cat conversion kit. I just put one on my 88 F-150 for $75 for the piping and $90 for the cat. What a steal. Your only other solution is to try the junkyards.

Anyway, you should be able to rig a high flow onto it, probably behind a nice y-pipe. I'd be wary of junkyard cats. They're liable to be clogged real bad. While you're under there you could ditch the muffler though. Remember, loud pipes save lives.
