I don't have a programmer yet, and was considering either the evolution or the superchips microtuner. What kind of problems are you having? You might just help me with my decision.

What sort of problems are you having with it? Have you talked to Edge about it?
the edge chips are not the best for the old style strokers that from edge got buddies with them on 2000 and up with no problems my problem is air temp code on my 4th sensor and 5th chip keep sending it back and getting a differant one but the only one that works is the second one i got i am not looking for huge power just a little more on hills twice a week i tow 16000lb trailer to the scrap yard just needs a little
the code only comes up in the edge programer that works not in a scan tool or the other chips air intake temp sensor intermittent high voltage all of the new chips say system pass but all my valueable boost goes out the pipe help i am tired of the nonsense ready to put it through edge products front window
You can do a search for the specific instructions, which have been posted a gazillion times, but the short of it is you nstall a 10k resistor in the injection control pressure (ICP) sensor to trick the computer into squeezing the injectors a little harder. There are several different variations of the mod, and can make up to arund a 50HP increase on a stock truck.
I don't use an exhaust brake, so I can't comment on which is better, but I do know that you can modify your existing exhaust backpressure valve to use it as an exhaust brake, and that won't cost you anything either.
